About us

Underwater work smarter, safer and better? That was the simple idea behind Vriezoo. No investors or grand plans, just Willem, who started working for a diving company in Den Helder in 2002. There he learned the trade of underwater inspections and repairs like no other. But he also saw that it could be done more efficiently, using technology instead of divers in the water.

In 2004, he and his father bought their first ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle), a smaller version that was suitable for inspections in inland waterways. Ports, locks, sheet piling: places where divers were often deployed, but where smart equipment could also be used. That ROV was the first real step towards self-employment, although in the beginning he still ran it alongside his job.

In 2008, Willem decided to change course permanently and quit his “regular job”. Vriezoo was born, focusing on underwater work in inland waters. Down-to-earth, solution-oriented and with one goal: to provide clear insight into what happens below the water's surface.

Soon, requests were coming in from beyond the Netherlands. Demand for inspections and support grew from the offshore world. To meet this demand, the first offshore-suitable ROV was purchased in 2011. This allowed Vriezoo to significantly expand its area of operation. From that moment on, things moved quickly. The assignments became larger, and in 2015, the first major job came in. Since then, Vriezoo has been completely independent.

Where others work with standard equipment, Vriezoo develops and improves its own systems. In our own workshop, we build custom tools, adapt existing systems and ensure that everything works as it should, even under the most challenging conditions. This customisation makes us flexible, fast and independent.
Safety and quality are a given. Vriezoo has been ISO-certified (9001 and 45001) since 2016, and we continue to improve and update our processes. We don't believe in paperwork for the sake of paperwork, but in good work that is demonstrably correct.

Today, we operate from new premises, with a permanent core of three professionals and a flexible pool of experienced specialists around us. This allows us to deploy the right expertise for every job. We also have our own ship: the Navicula Star. This allows us to respond even faster, operate independently and carry out complete projects.
What we do is specialised, but our approach remains simple. We are technically strong, speak clear language and do what we promise. And if something doesn't exist? Then we just make it ourselves.
